PR and Communication Officer

Responsibilities :

  • Organize and execute various events under TUKO’s brand.
  • Ensure a strong media presence for the brand and key company figures through strategic press coverage and public relations efforts.
  • Track and document progress on communication activities.
  • Establish and manage partnerships with major events and organizations in Kenya to enhance brand visibility.
  • Identify and apply for industry awards and events that can strengthen TUKO’s reputation and industry recognition.
  • Promote flagship brand initiatives.

‍ Requirements :

Experience & Background

  • Experience & expertise : minimum 2+ years in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or a related field.
  • Strong communication & content creation skills : ability to create various types of promotional content and op-ed materials. A skill to calibrate messages to the audience and communication channel.
  • Event-management : a candidate has experience in organizing and executes events from concept to completion. The candidate excels in coordination, communication, and problem-solving under pressure.
  • Strategic thinking : ability to develop, implement, and refine communication brand strategies aligned with company objectives and performance insights.
  • Crisis management : capable of handling negative publicity and safeguarding the brand’s reputation.
  • Analytical approach : proficient in tracking brand communication performance, measuring KPIs, and optimizing campaigns for greater impact.
  • Digital & social media knowledge : understanding of social media / PR / communication software, tracking tools, and influencer engagement for media outreach.
  • Adaptability & initiative : comfortable working in fast-paced environments, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Independence & self-sufficiency : ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision while maintaining high performance.
  • Industry network : established connections with journalists, event managers, marketing agencies, media outlets, and influencers are an advantage.
  • Remote work readiness : Must have a reliable internet connection and a laptop (minimum Intel Core i3).
