We are looking for a Finance and Marketing Intern to support our Africa Regional Office in Nairobi.
The role combines finance and operations support with creative contributions to marketing and communications.
Working closely with the Finance & Administration Manager and Program teams, the intern will gain hands-on experience in financial processes, operational support, and strengthening IIRR’s visibility through marketing and knowledge management.
The intern will assist in processing and maintaining financial records, supporting day-to-day operations, and contributing to marketing IIRR’s knowledge products, managing digital platforms, and documenting program activities.
This role provides a holistic exposure to both the financial and communications functions of a dynamic NGO environment.
Key Responsibilities Finance & Operations Support the processing and filing of vouchers, receipts, and invoices.
Assist with data entry, reconciliations, and basic accounting tasks.
Provide logistical support for meetings, workshops, and field activities.
Maintain proper filing systems (both physical and electronic).
Perform other finance and administrative tasks as assigned.
Marketing & Communications Support in marketing IIRR knowledge management products to local institutions.
Develop internal catalogues for knowledge products.
Create social media posts and assist in managing digital platforms.
Document program activities through stories, photos, and short videos.
Contribute to branding and visibility materials (flyers, brochures, presentations).
Assist in organizing events, campaigns, and outreach activities.
Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of financial / accounting processes (required).
Skills & Competencies Strong digital skills, including MS Office; Canva or other graphic tools an advantage.
Good writing, editing, and communication skills.
Creativity and attention to detail.
High level of integrity and ability to multitask.
Interest in rural development, community empowerment, and NGO work.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Duration & Stipend Three (3) to six (6) months (with possible extension).
This is an unpaid internship.
