Mine Captain

A long-term opportunity for a dynamic, high-potential mining professional to step into a Mine Captain role overseeing underground gold mining operations in Kenya.

This position is tailored for an energetic, early-to-mid career operational leader who will work directly alongside an exceptionally experienced Mine Manager on site. While taking on direct operational responsibility for underground crews, production targets, and safety standards, you will benefit from senior executive mentorship designed to support your long-term career development and operational mastery within the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Underground Production & Supervision: Manage daily underground operational shifts, including development, narrow-vein stoping, drilling, blasting, mucking, and haulage activities to hit production targets safely.
• Crew Leadership: Direct and guide shift bosses, shift lieutenants, drillers, and underground personnel, fostering a culture of high performance, discipline, and accountability.
• Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to mine safety codes, ventilation standards, ground control protocols, and statutory regulations.
• Operational Management & Collaboration: Partner with underground engineering, survey, and maintenance teams to ensure high equipment availability and smooth operational flow.
• Performance Tracking & Mentorship: Monitor shift efficiency and operational costs while actively participating in site-level strategic guidance and professional development with senior mine leadership.

Candidate Profile & Key Requirements

• Experience: 3 to 6+ years of practical underground mining experience (preference for underground gold / narrow-vein stoping environments).
• Education: Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
• Certifications: Valid Underground Blasting License / Certificate of Competency.
• Leadership Profile: Ambitious, energetic, and safety-focused leader looking for a stable, long-term role with clear operational runway.
• Relocation / Mobility: Open to regional expat candidates willing to relocate/reside on-site in Kenya
