Position : Senior PHP Developer - Accounting & ERP Systems Location: Nairobi Employment Type: Full-time Gross Salary Range: KES 100,000 - 120,000 per month Application Deadline: 23rd September 2026 About the Role We are looking for an experienced Senior PHP Developer to join our team, with strong backend development skills and a preference for candidates who have prior exposure to accounting systems, ERP solutions, or financial applications. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys building and maintaining robust, secure, and scalable systems that support core business and financial operations. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain backend systems and APIs using PHP Build and enhance modules related to accounting, financial reporting, invoicing, or ERP functionality Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices Collaborate with cross-functional teams (frontend developers, QA, and product/business stakeholders) to deliver functional, reliable solutions Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in existing systems Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance in financial and business-critical applications Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development standards and processes Optimise application performance and database queries Integrate third-party APIs and services where required (e.g., payment gateways, banking systems, tax/compliance tools) Document technical processes, system architecture, and codebase for internal knowledge sharing. Required Skills & Qualifications Strong proficiency in PHP. Solid experience with a PHP framework (e.g., Laravel, CodeIgniter, Symfony, or similar) Strong understanding of relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), including query optimization Experience with RESTful API design and integration Familiarity with version control systems (Git) Understanding of software development best practices, including testing and debugging Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment Preferred Prior experience working with accounting software, ERP systems, or financial applications (e.g., invoicing, ledgers, payroll, inventory/financial modules) Understanding of basic accounting or financial principles (double-entry bookkeeping, financial reporting, etc.) Experience with front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML/CSS) for full-stack contributions Experience with cloud hosting/deployment environments Familiarity with data security and compliance considerations relevant to financial systems.
