Requirements for Appointments

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen
  • Diploma in graphic arts, design, communications, or a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum three years of relevant professional experience in graphic design is required.
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili;
  • Possess advanced computer application skills;
  • Have a clear understanding of the working of the media and the sociopolitical environment in Kenya;
  • Have demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and results.
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values and principles of public service as outlined in articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya.
  • AutoCAD, Acrobat, Web Design / Basic HTML and CSS knowledge will be an added advantage

Responsibilities

  • Develop derivative products such as social media infographics, GIFS, brochures, and banners.
  • Proficient in Coral, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator / InDesign.
  • Provide proofs to ensure product quality prior to printing and / or publication.
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and developing interactive designs.
  • Demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches and working on layouts ready for print.
  • Working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, illustrators4, other designers, account executives, web developers and communication specialists.
  • Ensure the communication materials produced have the desired impact on the target audience.
  • Developing concepts, graphics, and layouts including making decisions about fonts, images readability, and readers' needs.
  • Able to combine art and technology to communicate ideas through images and the layout of websites and printed page
  • Develop publication layouts for online-friendly format(s).
  • Managing assigned projects and programmes under the guidance of the head of the Unit / Section.
  • Liaise with printing services to ensure high quality printing of abovementioned publications.
