Still I Rise is an international NGO with a humanitarian mission to provide protection and quality education to refugee and underprivileged youth. Our flagship institution is our International School in Mathare, Nairobi. Here, we are passionately engaged in one of the world’s most ambitious, unique and exciting educational projects : to offer the very highest quality of schooling experience to some of the most disadvantaged children in East Africa.
We are now seeking an open-minded, thoughtful and creative Performative & Theatre Arts teacher to join our team. You will inspire and educate children in foundational Arts classes of drawing, sculpture and crafts for new students as well as visual arts for 12 to 16 year olds which follow the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) programme.
PERFORMING ARTS / THEATRE TEACHER
IB MYP Music (Middle Years Programme) is a pedagogical framework that sits over national and international curricula. Students construct their own knowledge and understanding through inquiry based learning that is documented through process journals. Students are taught how to become better people through the Learner Profile and they are taught to become better students through the Approaches to Learning Skills. Please visit the following page if you are unfamiliar with this subject of the programme : https : / / www.ibo.org / programmes / middle-years-programme / curriculum / arts /
You join Still I Rise with a clear pathway of growth and promotion. We offer extensive professional development in a wide range of areas as well as full sponsorship of your participation in official IB training workshops. We therefore hire proactive educators who demonstrate genuine care for each child, a hunger to offer them the best, and an infectious passion for the curricular and extracurricular activities they lead.
If you are a qualified teacher and this sounds like a challenge which suits you, we warmly invite you to apply!
